I had it all planned. This week, I would write about my ideas for a cookie house for dogs. In anticipation of Dauphine's (my almost 11-year-old Frenchie's) birthday, I would create a dog-friendly recipe using peanut butter or sweet potatoes, and use it to bake an edible dog house. It would be so cute to put on the table for her birthday, and she and her dog friends could demolish and eat it, just like we humans do.

BUT then I saw a Facebook notification I had missed. My #1 customer, Melina in Maryland, had posted and tagged Edible Architect!! When I clicked through to her post, I was completely stunned. Here is the text she included:

Immediately, I became a bit emotional. When I started making cookie houses during the pandemic, my dream was that someday people would do exactly this! I felt that cookie house baking and building was a perfect FaceTime activity, and something people could easily and enjoyably do together, even while miles apart. Melina and her sister had brought my dream to life! And the fact that she included such helpful notes and tips blew me away. And then I saw the Cottage 2s they made...absolutely amazing! See for yourself:

The way Melina uses color to bring her house to life is transformative! And I find it impossible to believe that her sister is a novice cookie house builder. Look at the clean lines!! To top it off, Melina included a photo of a friend on edible paper in one of the windows--GENIUS!!! This is giving me so many ideas for future projects.

The sight of Melina's pal peeking out one of the windows is hilarious, personal, and immediately made me start thinking about the possibilities for edible photo frames, and more! Such an inspiration!!

Melina: If you're reading this, THANK YOU. I am so grateful that you enjoy cookie house-building as much as I do, and so thankful to you for sharing it with your friends and family. You are truly an inspiration. As ever, I CAN'T WAIT to see what you build next!

Melina and I will be partnering on a special design for Halloween, and I'm very excited about it. So much more to come!!
