A-Frame Cookie Cabin on Candy Lake

For June, I wanted to come up with a design that would make a great Father's Day dessert. Growing up, my dad spoke often (and fondly) of the A-Frame cabin where he spent his childhood summers. My grandparents owned a small holiday cabin on Lac-du-Cerf in Canada, and my father, aunts, and uncle would get together and recount story after story about their time on the lake. I couldn't think of a more appropriate or fun design to celebrate the dads.

I set to work, and created a structure where the roofs feature prominently, and there are plenty of windows on the front and back walls to take in views of the lake and surrounding forest. The A-Frame Cookie Cabin was born. Since it's a cabin on a lake, I thought a fish texture roller would add a hint of whimsy to the roof surfaces, and some of the cutouts from the windows could be used as porches and decks! Personally, I give this A-Frame an A-Plus.

To complete the scene, I used sugar cones covered in chocolate royal icing and green decorating sugar to make pine trees. I also included a candy lake, made from blue Jolly Rancher candies. The result is just what I hoped for: outdoorsy, adorable, and delicous. To pair with the A-Frame design, I developed a Peanut Butter Crunch cookie and chocolate royal icing to assemble the structure. Absolutely delicious!
I can't wait to make one for my dad on Father's Day. I really hope it brings him back to Lac-du-Cerf! Will you make one?
